Root Cause (SS2)

I hope you are enjoying but more importantly being blessed by the posts so far on becoming a more self aware person. I believe this will help you handle many situations in a more matured, Spirit-led and calmer manner. If you haven’t read the previous posts, you can do so here and here.

In the last post, I wrote about some anxiety I was dealing with whilst getting a hold of driving, instead of driving getting a hold of me! It is GOD and I that are doing this driving together, walahi! In fact, a regular entry to my gratitude journal is “Thank GOD for safe driving to/from work”. No joke! I do not take it for granted, no sire!

So still on this driving theme, I was navigating my way out of the snake of a road that leads to/from the staff car park at work one evening on my way home. And because the area is very residential, there are usually cars parked on the road and gear 2 driving is required to help this child of GOD slow down and stop if necessary.

On this fine evening, I had to do said slowing down but not in a way I thought was good enough or in a way that I thought looked good enough. As I was recovering from this, loud and clear in my spirit/heart, I heard the Holy Spirit impress this on me strongly:

“the reason you have such anxiety is because you meditate so much on the near misses and seemingly poor driving so much.”

As soon as that light bulb turned on in that darkness, I gained so much clarity and it was like I had come to the light to be set free – it was truly freeing. And since then, as soon as I do a fake James Bond on the road, I forgive myself almost immediately and move on quite quickly. And I’ve seen a huge difference in my level of peace and energy levels after every driving episode. Fear of driving has greatly reduced. I’m more likely to go to uncharted territories (aka new places), I’m beginning to ever so slowly enjoy some driving, just a little bit of it.

How can or does this clarity from the Holy Spirit apply to you? Do you find you spending a lot of time thinking on mistakes and errors and all the wrong decisions you made? Playing out scenarios that would likely never be? Bracing yourself for woes? Fearing the worst?

Sweet friend, there is no need for that. All that energy can and should be channelled into thinking about the goodness of GOD. On the many ways HE has protected you from making even bigger errors. On how greatly able GOD is to turn those mistakes around to work together for your good (Romans 8:28). On all the blessings that HE has and is bestowing on you.

Once you realise the mistake of your ways, just turn to GOD in repentance and ask for HIS help not to dull again in Jesus’ name. Remember HE has already invited you to come boldly to HIS throne of grace to find mercy and grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). And even if you dull again, HE’s faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Remember Hosea’s wife, Gomer (Hosea 1). HE’s always willing to take you back.

This awareness and clarity of not spending too much mental energy on my wrongs have brought more peace to my life. It’s teaching me about GOD as a FATHER – the very definition of a Good, Good Father; and about HIS unfailing love that endures forever (Psalm 136).

To your awareness of HIS grace and covering of love, . . .
