They say habits can be formed in 21 days. It’s been 21 days since my last post and before I form the bad habit of not writing daily and diversifying the portfolio of my life besides work, I needed to publish this post that has been marinading for almost a month now. My apologies to you my regular readers. Thanks for reminding me, you know yourself!
For not publishing in such a long time, well, I have an excuse, sorta, maybe two, I’ve had writer’s block! Plus, work has been full on for me. Now, this is not because I haven’t seen GOD in my dailies, I mean that’s the tagline for this blog. And I have been writing in my gratitude journal quite regularly too! It’s just I haven’t been inspired to take any of those sightings broader nor forward. I’ve even asked my brother-man for ideas but he’s just given me mainly funny/silly topics!

So after much brooding and thinking, I was inspired on my way out of work one Thursday evening, about my christian walk.
I can’t quite remember what led to this thought but here it is:
As a christian, you swallow this double-faced pill on the regular: while what people think about you shouldn’t bother you, it should also bother you especially if you profess yourself to be a christian.
Of course, we shouldn’t allow what other people think about us to determine how we live our lives, where we get our life’s definitions from. No human being should have that power; it belongs exclusively to GOD only!! One of the defining verses of who we are in Christ is seen in 1 Peter 2 : 9 (NLT/MSG/AMP): “… chosen by GOD, … royal priests, … a holy people, special people,…to show others the goodness of GOD…”
We however, should be bothered by what people think of us, in the sense of how we represent Christ. Do they see Jesus in the way I act? Am I full of joy and peace irrespective of the situation and environment? Do I work as a servant of Christ? Do I act from a place of the love of GOD? Paul the Apostle said in Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 10 : 23-33, that although his freedom shouldn’t be judged by another man’s thinking, he wouldn’t eat meat if that makes his brother in Christ, who Christ died for, to stumble and fall into sin.
This got me thinking about other ‘double-sided pills’ we swallow as Christians. Here are a few that came to mind:
Be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove – Matthew 10:16.
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes. – Proverbs 26:4-5.
The LORD will make you the head, not the tail . . . vs For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest. Deuteronomy 28:13 vs Luke 9:48.
Jesus is called the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5) and also the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).
There are many others like this in the Bible and with wisdom being the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7), it is wisdom to know which side of the pill to absorb in whatever life situations we face.
To your being like GOD in everything, . . .
